‘Movement: Moving more for our mental health’ Movement is so much more than the physical, influencing our mental & emotional health, it’s one of the most important things we can do to help protect our minds.

Not convinced, here’s how:

Mental Health Benefits: Regular physical activity can significantly decrease symptoms of depression & anxiety. When you exercise, your body releases chemicals like endorphins and serotonin that improve your mood & reduce feelings of stress & pain.

Cognitive Enhancement: Engaging in regular physical activity can boost cognitive functions. It helps in improving memory, concentration & the overall brain function. This is partly due to increased blood flow to the brain during exercise.

Emotional Regulation: Exercise can be a powerful tool for managing emotions. Allowing you time to find some peace & quiet, an opportunity to channel your energy into something positive & break out of the cycle of negative thoughts.

Self-esteem & Resilience: Regular physical activity can boost self-esteem & help in building resilience against adversity. Achieving fitness goals, for example, can empower & instil a sense of accomplishment.

Sleep & Relaxation: Physical activity can also help you sleep better, thanks to its ability to regulate stress hormones and help the body wind down. Good quality sleep is crucial for overall mental health.
